About us
Inuka IP Foundation is a dynamic, youth-led NGO uniting diverse African talent around a shared vision: to transform intellectual property (IP) into a catalyst for innovation across Africa and beyond. Recognizing that IP stands at the intersection of creativity, technology, and economic development, we empower African innovators, creators, startups, and SMEs to thrive in the global knowledge economy.
Coming to Birth
In the vibrant corridors of university life, our cofounders discovered a shared passion for intellectual property while witnessing firsthand the challenges creators face in protecting their innovations. These conversations evolved into a vision that became Inuka IP Foundation in early 2024.
What began as academic discussions has transformed into a dynamic organization dedicated to democratizing IP knowledge, simplifying protection processes, and advocating for inclusive policies that recognize diverse forms of innovation.
Today, we continue to grow our network of partners and experts, united by the belief that everyone with a valuable idea deserves access to the knowledge and tools needed to protect it effectively.
WHY THE NAME "INUKA"

The name "Inuka"—Swahili for "rise up"—embodies our mission perfectly. It represents our commitment to elevating IP protection and awareness, particularly focusing on empowering innovators to rise above protection challenges and realize their full potential.
Our founders chose this powerful name as a nod to Africa's emerging innovation ecosystem, while embracing a truly global perspective. Just as "Inuka" calls for rising up, we envision intellectual property as the foundation upon which creators worldwide can build and elevate their ideas into protected, valuable assets.
